Yaama, I’m Tezzi
I'm the founder and cookie creator at Cooee Cookies, and a proud Wiradjuri woman born and raised on Country. I grew up cooking alongside my grandmother, wearing one of her aprons, soaking in everything she did. I didn't realise it then, but that's where my passion for cooking food for family and friends started. I now get the privilege of teaching my children, sharing and using my knowledge of native ingredients and combining them into modern day food. We can enjoy the rich array of native ingredients, infusing food with culture, ensuring that generations to come get to experience the same ingredients that our people have used for thousands of years.
As a mother of 7 in a home with a variety of dietary requirements, I needed to make food that was safe for my Miyagan (family); yummy allergy friendly treats that everyone can enjoy. In our home alone, we have coeliac, dairy free and vegan, and none of my children like nuts. If something as humble as having a yarn with a cuppa and cookies was to continue then something had to change in the way we bake.
"Kindness is our kinda thing."
I strongly believe that kindness can change the world. My aim is for Cooee Cookies is to help create a kinder world for all. Where the simple joy of sharing a cookie transcends boundaries, empowers impact, celebrates diversity and the rich heritage of Indigenous culture, with every yummy bite. Changing the world one cookie at a time!
